TSDS is your destination for community, connection, and a little bit of magic. We promote the joy of Swing dance and Swing music to the Triangle with fabulous events and enchanted evenings, re-imagined.
Huzzah is a North Carolina-based six-piece group that plays acoustic, string-centric hot jazz that builds on music from the early days of the swing era. We play dance music from the early 20th century that defines swing. Huzzah!
LESSONS
If you’ve never danced before, start with this complimentary introductory lesson from 7-8PM. You’ll learn some history of the dance, basic footwork and rhythm, and current Swing dance culture so you can dance all night and make new friends. This is a great choice if this is your first Swing dance or if you've only danced Lindy Hop a few times prior.
We're launching a new option of a ticketed non-beginner level lesson from 7-8PM!
Jackie and Joel Plys, international Swing dance instructors and owners of Retro Rhythm, will teach a 1-hour add-on lesson for more experienced dancers to enhance their skills before the live band.
This week's Topic is:
“Santa’s favorite slides & styling”
In all his travels, Joel was able to make time to go up to the north pole and work with Santa a few times. The last trip was in 2014 with Jackie before Autumn was born so she had a chance to work with Mrs. Claus. Join them as they share footwork, slides, and styling to add into your Swing Dancing.
This class will be held at the same time as the Intro lesson from 7PM-8PM in a different room at Murphy School.
Please note: The class is limited due to venue capacity. You must register with a dance-role choice for the class to keep the room balanced. This is a brand new program that is in beta-testing and will only be offered at Murphey School location dances right now. We are very excited to offer this program and thank you for your patience as we iron out the wrinkles.

Mask policy is dependent on the CDC guidance regarding the COVID-19 hospital admissions levels of Orange county at the time the dance is held. That means our mask policy can change from when you purchase your ticket to when the event is held.
Orange County COVID-19 hospital admissions levels as of 10/9/23: LOW - Masks are optional.
The CDC updates their data on Thursday evenings. We monitor this and update this page when things change. Please realize masks may become mandatory if the transmission level and/or guidance changes prior to the dance.
Anyone is always welcome to wear a mask at our events at any time regardless of mask policy.
